刚刚面完phd program的coordinator面的
面试一上来就呱啦呱啦讲个不停
第一个问题是你为啥选我们department
接着就说介绍说这个department是选课很自由的
有人适合这种模式 有人不适合 blablabla...
然后是介绍这个programme前两年不用选老板 blablabla...
然后就说 u r shortlisted
追问之下 他说这个pool大概有8-10个人 今年打算招两个
给多少offer的话 一般来说会发出去4个 因为会有人不来 blablabla...
你有任何问题可以找我问 如果我有update会跟你说
在这个pool里 现在没有具体的rank 两周内会开始发offer

整个过程就这样子 主要是他在讲 讲得比较快 问我的问题基本就是
1 你为什么申我们系
2 你还申了些什么东西

感觉自己面的一般 而且pool里面的人应该都有很好的background
只能hope for the best啦

Thank you for your encouragement. I just emailed my professor at BYU where I studied at for my bachelor degree and see if they can offer me any research assistant things or I can be of any help for your research.

Hope that it will work. Although I will apply in around Oct of 2011, I think I need to do it now because the PhD applicants are too too too strong. I am just no body.

Yes, I see, but the problem is that I do not have connection and research experience...... (so sad), so I am wondering how I can suddenly become connected with the professors and can publish a paper. My major is finance in bachelor and acc in master. All are taught-based degree......

Would you suggest me how to get some connections?

gpa一直不算好 （如果这个不叫差的话） undergrad 3/4.3,  mphil 3.7/4有一篇跟老板和师兄合作的working paper 自己有一定的contribution 想必老板在推荐信了说了我好多好话
加上我之前的research跟他们很match （他们系有一半老师做这个方向 面我的prof说的） 所以才有机会进入shortlist


能进shortlist对我来说也算是一个surprise 之前没想过自己申请这种很好的商学院会有机会

Papers and connections matter a lot, ranther than pure GPA.

Cogratulations. Duke is my dream school. Would you please share your background with us?

Especially your GPA and major in bachelor and master (since I am so worried that I am not in math major, but lose to the science and math people).
