IC MSc 面经汇总 [2021.02.09]

又来攒人品了，刚刚面试完 IC（又是 due 的前两天面试），感觉题库很新，之前准备的不怎么用到了，这次的 writing 是写一封自荐信给大学一个不熟悉的校友（现在在我想去的公司工作）。

还有一个专业问题考的是量化宽松 & example. 其他的问题不怎么记得住了，有一个是 a failed goal，what did you do about it?

还是把之前准备的题目分享给大家攒人品。

Introduce yourself.
What you overcome an opposition to reach your goal?
e.g: In the Econ course final team project, I want to lead my group to get a high score of the final project. For the final project, it needs us to analyze a company’s advantages and disadvantages, competitors and so on. Because my father’s company was facing a huge problem . Therefore, I really want to do the project perfectly and encourage my dad. I firstly built a group chat, confirming everyone’s schedules and contacting emails. Then I sorted out the general framework of the assignment and existing questions, consulting the professor on deeper understanding. I distributed the team works, and finally got the highest score out of the class. I was more like the leader gathering everyone, uniting everyone and allocating their own responsibilities. After everyone finished their jobs, I’ll go over and revise them.
Hobby(high-level). Vlogging; due to covid-19, I was not allowed to hang out. Therefore, I started to do vlog. I’d like to record my daily life via recording videos and use some edit app such as photoshop to make it into a vlog and upload into some social media such as Tiktok, etc. For me, it’s an opportunity to record my daily life and when I become old, I can watch these vlogs to recall my youth. Moreover, blogging let me know more people from different places and engage directly with my audiences. It’s kind of a stage for me on internet. Finally, it lets me to have more skills such as the ability to using photoshop, consider my content and film it.

1000 怎么投资？
I’ll choose to buy bonds. Comparing with stocks, bonds have less uncertainty and don’t fluctuate too much based on my idea that I want to earn money and keep my 1000 pounds. I will divide 1000 into several parts and convert into Chinese RMB. Because I’m a Chinese and know more specifically of Chinese bond market. I’ll choose to invest in textile industry 500 pounds. The reason is that due to Covid-19, China is the first country started to resumer textile production operation. Therefore, many countries who need the these products and could not operate due to Covid-19 will export to China. 300 I will choose to invest in wine. At this time, it’s spring festival, the biggest and most important festival in China. People will buy some gifts such as wine and send to others and also will drink wine during their daily life. The rest 200 I will invest in medicine industry for developing the Covid-19’s vaccine.
和队友有冲突怎么解决？
When I agree with someone, I will conclude her or his idea, and then maybe provide some other details. And then listen to his or her idea. If I disagree with someone, I will analyze that the advantages and disadvantages of his idea and then comparing with my opinion. After listening to her suggestion, I will tell her my statement and explain that I have that opinion and listen to her feedback and communicate with her about our ideas.
How to work with new colleague?
three key points:
1. Be active & positive, listen actively.
2. Speak with discretion and talk face to face. If we communicate via internet, we can use some emojis.
3. Consider their communication preference and technology etiquette
How digital marketing help customers?
1. It offers convenience and quick service. E.g: Amazon, we can buy things online directly without need to go to stores. Allowing comparison shopping. Comparing with similar products and also the reviews provided by the people who already bought .
2. It provides 7 days, 24 hours access.
3. Create a personalized experience.
Have you ever give up a goal, how to overcome it?
Learned how to play the piano, almost gave up because practice was very boring and wanted to hang out with my friends.
Mum told me to recall the reason that I did not want to play the piano at beginning, and also let me listen to many beautiful songs.
Relaxed for one month and did not play, and found out the reason that I did not wanna play was due to the schedule. Took three classes one week, changed into twice a week.
Started to play again.

区别两个相似品牌同一部门怎么用不同的 strategy 来 target market?
1. Find our current market situation, clear-out the similarity, style, pricing, or design, each part have different strategy
2. use SWOT analysis, comparing with another similar brand
3. It’s similar not same, therefore, improve our difference between another brand and advertise it. e.g: have more nice design or more price discount or collaborating with other brands; finally, the online shopping.
关于这个 program.
Integrates strategic analysis with contemporary economics to prepare students for successful careers in strategy or management consulting. Gained an insightful industry understanding on how data science or data analytics is applied across different industries. Also might be a great “saddle” point to switch between analytics consulting and technology industry; Also, it provides a wealthy of resources to support me through my time at Imperial that many career events through the academic year and having the chance working in Google, Citigroup, etc.

How to define success in your career and how to measure your progress?
For me, there really is no such thing as success or failure in life. As long as you put in the effort, even if the end result is not very good, but still not a failure.
Not being able to take care of your life, take better care of the people around you, and do something useful to give back to society may be a bit of a regret, but it's not a failure. It's a lack of capacity. So no matter when, people will not be overthrown by the realm. The only person who can kill us is ourselves. It's never too late to recognize your problems and start making changes. Don't always think that failure is not failure. In fact, failure is to know their own shortcomings but not to overcome, to give up their own.
Demographics affect business.
Demographics is one of the biggest factor that can affect a business. It can be used to determine product preferences or buying behaviors of consumers. Most companies identify their key customers through these various traits. For example, in my hometown, it has more younger people. Therefore, for most of the companies, they will have more programs indicated to younger people. Set young people as their target consumers such as some clothes companies, their design will be more fashion based on the demographics. Targeting consumers with similar demographic characteristics helps maximize a company's sales and profits.
The industry sector that is most open to disruption.
Manufacturing industry. Nowadays, the whole whole world develops at a high speed. Internet and AI became part of our life. To be specific, internet let our life make our life easier and make companies more efficient such as some clothing companies. Instead of sewing every piece of clothing by hand, machines can now produce large quantities of clothing in a short period of time. This has led many companies to buy more machines to replace workers.
通过什么方式获取 business news，为什么获取很重要？
