关于 offer 的一点感想和建议 [2020.03.04]

1. 各位还没有上岸的小伙伴，请一定要注意，在没有拿到 formal letter of admission（也就是学校盖章签名的 pdf 文件），千万不要 assume 自己已经拿到 offer 了。An email does not count！不要着急 withdraw 其他的申请，也不要着急 reject 其他的 offer. 美国的几乎所有学校都要遵守 4.15 协定，也就是说，只要你拿到了这个 formal acceptance letter, you have until 4.15 to make the final decision. 虽然学校会各种 push 你（例如 offer additional funding if you accept the offer by certain date）但是在没有收到 formal offer letter 的时候，千万沉住气。

2. 决定不去的学校（再次强调：在确认想去的学校给你发了 formal acceptance letter 的前提下），尽早 withdraw 或者 reject（建议给负责联系你的 prof 写一个真诚礼貌的email，表达对于 consider 你的申请的感想，和不能去该学校的遗憾……），不仅能帮助申请学校的 admission committee 省点力气，也可以让 waitlist 上的小伙伴少点煎熬。

3. 请各位小伙伴认真对待发 email 这件事。在 academia，你发出去的 email 就代表了你的personal image. You need to be grateful, sincere, and polite. Don't be rude, blunt, or arrogant. 不确定 email 怎么发，可以查一下。
