今天下午去了西北IMC 的info session. 主讲人是这个项目的associate dean Dr. Frank Mulhern. 1个小时的session比较充实，
先是简单介绍了full time和part time program的组成区别：
- full time含有summer immersion,就是4-5 人一组帮一个公司做相关项目，可能全程在公司，也可能大部分时间在学校
- part time则没有这个部分
然后讲了IMC和MBA以及一般master of PR or master of advertisement的区别：IMC focuses a lot on digital marketing and analytics, not so much on the creative side of the business. 相较于MBA, IMC对marketing 和communication的研究更为深入，但是IMC对finance的学习比较浅。full time program约55%是国际生。近年来IMC有增加quantitative courses, to better prepare graduates for the job market,当然这depends on what you wanna do.
Mulhern 讲完了有一名08part time IMC毕业的alum分享经验，因为在这个program之前他已经有7年的工作经验而且是公司sponsor，所以对我来说他的经历意义不太大，就没怎么听。。。But he met his wife in the program thou haha, if anyone's interested in that.
完了问答环节我问Mulhern国际生工作情况，他说现在市场还没有完全复苏，很多公司不sponsor work visa,所以国际生的留美机会的确比较少。他们这些program directors们正在着手增加一些information technology的课程，因为大部分在美国找到工作的国际生都是quant related 工作（当然啦不是投行那个quant)，据他说，这两年有几个是去做risk management的。所以从他的回答看国际生的job prospect是不太明朗的。
Mulhern挺好的，学究气淡，很直接。Alrighty,that's it!
