Kellogg Alum Interview Experience
we started off quite randomly with the discussion of his current company, the business model. I raised a point and he said I was smart (for three times). Following that, the situation was mixed:
Questions asked:
- Brief introduce yourself
- Why MBA since you already have a graduate degree
- Why Kellogg (I was sad he did not comment on anything i mentioned special about Kellogg and just took down notes)
- Why now not last year or the year after
- What are the other schools applied (I said xxxx and xxxxxxx) He then followed with "what do you select if all admitted) I said Kellogg immediately but i can feel he did not buy. I should have analyzed a bit then say Kellogg
- What is the biggest acchievement at work?
- What is the second biggest acchievement at work?"( I faint, did not expect the second)
- he followed up the example asked what did I do exactly.
- Difficult team experience?
- What can you contribute to Kellogg.
- What makes an effective leader?
- What will your coworkers describe you?
- Your GPA is xxx (actually not bad at all). Do you think your GPA and GMAT reflect your real capability? ( i was surprised and really did not know how to answer). Then we elaborated a little bit by saying the GMAT aveage is picking up year by year.
When we start talking about my application, he seldomly comment on what I said. I don't know if that is because i hit the wall or just his style. When we talk about other things, (china, business, etc.) the discussion was hot.
Conclustion: he said he has to write a report to the committee and I observed he did take very detailed notes. So I guess the core value of the interview is to provide additional data points to the Adcom. I am sure he will give a grade or even a Yes or No but this is certainly just one component of the whole package.
