Chicago Booth & NYU Stern 面經分享

剛從美國回來, 這次飛了北京跟NYC完成了Booth還有Stern的面試, 並且在回程前獲知Booth上了的消息, 內心真的很感激所有幫助我的人, 尤其是Booth的北京校友, 她的成就與和善讓我對Booth的環境與community更加嚮往 =)

1) Chicago Booth (alumni interview)
   - Question list:
   a) What's your short-term and long-term goals?
   b) Why do you need an MBA?
   c) Why Chicago Booth?
   d) What do you think you can contribute to Booth community?
   e) Please tell me one your leadership experience.
   f) What are your strength and weakness?

2) NYU Stern (on-campus interview)
   - Question list:
   a) What are your hobbies?
   b) Would you please tell me about your duties in XXX company?
   c) What are your short-term and long-term goals?
   d) About your post-MBA short-term goal, do you have any target company?
   e) If you cannot get in your target company after graduation, do you have any back-up plan?
   f) What do you think you can contribute to NYU Stern?
   g) Is there any other student clubs that you want to join? (前面我提到我想參加某一個社團)
   h) How do you think you can lead those clubs that you wanna join?

面試心得總結:

1. alumni interview or on-campus interview?

我覺得決定前可以先打聽一下這所學校是blind interview or non-blind interview, 如果由admission officer來做面試的話, 去學校一趟可以順便登記聽課, 與現在的學生交流...etc, 這些都可以成為interview時對答的內容, 讓學校覺得你真的很了解且喜歡他們學校, 像一些重視commitment的學校, 例如: Stern, 會比較有幫助, 不然它們的off-campus Interview也是要等到統一時間跟adcom一起談, 反而很難凸顯自己對他們學校的熱愛。

而blind interview的學校, 很多on-campus interview都是由MBA二年級的學生來做, 就我所知Wharton還有Booth就都是這樣, 我覺得如果你理想的學校是這樣在執行interview, 而你又不是native speaker或是擁有native speaker那樣對答的能力的話, 建議就選擇校友吧, 否則真的很難掌控自己的interviewer是不是口音很重的印度人還是東歐人, 我這樣講不是歧視他們的意思, 而是我在大broker做equity research這幾年的經驗讓我知道即使學歷經歷都很高, 很聰明的印度人, 講話難免都有重口音....一開始不能聽懂interviewer的問題, 那麼對答起來自然就不順, 而且有可能讓人家懷疑你的英文能力

2. 關於準備Interview的內容

我覺得在"What you can contribute?"上還有"What's your strength?"上可以多下點包裝的功夫, 認真想一下自己overall profile中最unique的點是哪些, 然後在這樣的問題中發揮出來, 讓interviewer看到你的亮點，然後列舉自己的contribution或是strengths也記得要多元一點, 例如: 說自己leadership強之外, 也要提一下自己有參與社團活動, 是個team player...等等。
