Tips about life in duke from alumni

The hardest thing to do as Chinese & regrets & soft skills

  • Be humbly aggressive, present yourself, speak up, gain confidence,
  • Know about social context such as sports(football and baseball)
  • Step our your comfort zone and network
  • Smartly use your advantages and contribute to the team
  • Network with someone with similar context first(jp, south Korean)
  • Push yourself to improve language skills
  • Try something new, always challenges, out of comfort zone
  • Know yourself, what you want, where to develop your skills , think it through , listen to yourself and pick one and then network from day one
  • Get to know people and stay focused
  • Know your strength and weakness, do not compete others s strength with your weakness; you will be fine
  • Work hard, play hard
  • Do not worry about your face, just speak up
  • Try to find something you are good at, be well prepared and contribute, then you will be popular as team member
  • Network with non-Chinese
