向组织报告一下我目前的申请结果，也算是能为cd做点贡献吧呵呵。
目前为止收到了vanderbilt MSF, oxford MFE的ad，和争议很大的brandeis MAief的offer. 一月底之前要交押金，为了保险在等待dream school的时候我想先交oxford的deposit，比较了好久还是决定turn down vanderbilt了。
先说说我的面试情况，希望能对xdjm有所帮助。vanderbilt的面试我在以前的帖子很详细的写过，基本说来很简单，感觉上是她们问每个人的问题都差不多所以如果要想impress them的话最好是在自己向她们提问的环节好好发挥一下，最好能争取多跟她们聊聊，半小时为宜。oxford的面试每个面试官情况都不一样，我的面试官是David Myatt,是教game theory和political economy。我倒是准备了很多这方面的专业问题，但其实他对申请者本身的研究领域更感兴趣。
具体说来，问题有：
- why do you like finance?
- what is finance?
- what is your understanding of risk and return?
- what factors other than risk and return are you interested in when making investment decisions?
- how do you hedge your portfolio? what is diversification?
- please explain "hedge fund" to a person who doesn't know about finance.
- what is the difference between hedge fund and mutul fund?
- did you take any courses related to asset pricing?
- please sum up CAPM. what does beta mean？
他的语速很快，人很nice, 听声音就是个funny guy。哪位兄弟姐妹碰上了他一定forget about his research area and focus on your own fields of interest instead.
我的背景：本科大四金融专业，gpa 85.3/100, top 5%, gmat 770+5.0, toefl 657+4.5, 加拿大uvic交流半年，实习在某consulting firm和某public relations company，在学校有一些乱七八糟的活动，论文三篇，定性一篇，数量的两篇，一篇国际，两篇发在国内，期刊倒不是什么特别牛的期刊，但我把两篇数量文章的英文版都寄过去了，可能多少也有点帮助。推荐信是实习时候的boss和在加拿大的教授写的。我的最大弱点是实习经历貌似跟金融专业相关度不高，如果有和我相似情况的xdjm,可以突出你通过这些经历表现出来什么样的qualities and abilities which are highly appreciated in the finance industry,另外实习公司的big name也能加分。
不管这结果算不算最好，在cd上我都有很多需要感谢的人。我想是因为有了这么多好的战友，我才有勇气和运气将application顺利的进行下去。especially,我想对catking说谢谢，原因不多说了，你知我知[em07]，我真心的希望你在这一两个月可以拿下你的dream school.
