I got the visa today in Shanghai. My individual case is not representative given my background and special case of the company. However, I would like to share my on-site observation with all of you, especially for VO, a so-called Glassboy.
To prepare the worst, I picked up a seat just nearby the glassboy to get better understanding of him. Indeed, he looks serious but very committed to his job. Normally, he will spend long time to understand your profile before interview , and check with you at details. I felt he is pretty nice to people who is good at listening and answering the questions straight. If you get prepared well, I am sure he is fine for you. Today, none of F1 is turned down, just several PHD students were asked to be further checked. Yet, he was extremely nice to tell these students that it would not be problem and don't worry.
After waiting nearly 3-hours, a nice man interviewd me. The entire process only takes less than 2 mintues, going so well.
