Kellogg在寻找什么样的MBA申请人

Marketing manager or Business Leader?

众所周知,kellogg的市场营销全球第一。许多申请人因此而强调自己的市场营销的背景和管理能力。这样的思路误入歧途。Kellogg的Adcom更希望我们把kellogg看作一个试图超越Marketing school的超级强校。而他们正在寻找的申请人是超越了marketing management,会成为leader的人。那么你一定要问,manager和leader的区别在哪里呢? Essay中应该如何体现呢?

Managing and leading are two different ways of organising people. The manager uses a formal, rational method whilst the leader uses passion and stirs emotions. William Wallace is one excellent example of a brilliant leader but could never be thought of as the manager of the Scots!

Differences In Perspectives

Managers do things by the book and follow company policy, while leaders follow their own intuition, which may in turn be of more benefit to the company. A leader is more emotional than a manager .

Subordinate As A Leader

Often with small groups, it is not the manager who emerges as the leader. In many cases it is a subordinate member with specific talents who leads the group in a certain direction.

Kellogg主要培养的是市场营销方面的专家,其团队工作精神、处理人际关系和市场营销的才能都是一流的,学生的综合管理能力也仅次于Harvard 和Stanford。Kellogg曾在不断发展的商管教学中独领风骚,现在它正致力于在表面上的暂时退步中努力创造一个新潮流:建立多元化的、富有更多的文化底蕴的学校。学校把重点放在global management、advanced technology、entrepreneurship和着力改进基础课程上。

Kellogg在吸收外国学生方面也达到了一流院校的水准。2002年,Kellogg收到了来自82个国的1500多份申请;该年录取的学生中外国学生占33%,而1992年只有16%的学生来自国外。另外,该校的美国学生中60%的曾在国外生活、学习或工作过,这使得该校学生更具有了国际化的特点。
  
Kellogg不仅在marketing方面声名卓著,而且在general management, manufacturing 和finance方面也相当不错。对那些对非营利部门职业感兴趣的学生,学校为他们开设有14门课程,这一点Yale 和Stanford都是赶不上的。对那些毕业后从事公从职业或在非营利部门工作的人,学校有宽免贷款方案。
  
Kellogg是第一所,也是现在为数不多的几所要求申请者必须面试的学校。不管你的GPA和GMAT多高,不面试,录取的机会微乎其微,因为校方非常看重学生与人交往和相处的以。我们建议申请者要尽早申请。第一个申请截止日期为12月1日,最后一个申请截止日期为3月23日。如能早申请,不仅被录取可能性大,申请住房和经济补助也容易些。

学院在2001年7月更换了学院院长,新的院长准确的把握了当前的形势,把建立积极进取的就业指导机构作为自己的头等大事来抓,所以当成为一名Kellogg的学员之后,你会发现在毕业的时候,你的就业前景和找到工作的速度会是全美最快的哦。
